BOO Hanger

Well, it seems to be that time of year when all the ghosts and ghoulies are out and about. I myself, much prefer a sweeter, gentler Halloween. I know - I'm such a wuss!! Anyway I made a Boo Hanger for my wall that is cute, and definitely NOT scary! lol It uses lots of fall colors and a few images to perk it up.

Cardstock: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and Lovely Lilac with coordinating Prints Designer Series Papers
Ink: Stazon Jet Black, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, and Lovely Lilac Classic Pads
Accessories: Chipboard Basics, Big Shot with Scallop Square Die and Serif Essentials Dies, AquaPainter, Circle Brads, Earth Elements Brads, Pumpkin Pie Narrow Grosgrain Ribbon, both Basic Black and Old Olive 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, purple ricrac from Ribbon Originals, Distressing Tool, Multi-Purpose Glue, and Paper Snips, and Glitter Pen (unknown)


This was so much fun to put together. My daughter and I spent time getting them together after I had gotten everything measured, cut, through the Big Shot, etc. We wanted to make several of these for family. This was a great way to spend an afternoon together. All totalled we made five of these. (Sorry I'm so late mailing yours Connie! You'll be already to use it next year!!)






It was fun to decide what accents to place on each letter. I loved how the ghosts look like they're floating up the side of the O. And the little witchy pumpkin fits perfectly inside the 2nd O.

We did disagree on whether to distress the edges of cardstock and Designer Paper. So some are distressed (mine) and some aren't (Heather's). In many ways our tastes are very similar, but we do differ on some things. And distressing is one of those things. She really doesn't care for it at all!! And on a project like this, either way works just fine.


Hope you enjoyed this project. Why don't you try one for yourself? Ooops, one tip I should have mentioned. We found it's so much easier to adhere the cardstock to the chipboard before you run it through the Big Shot. No sense in making more work for yourself having to line up the scallops of the chipboard and cardstock when gluing. So much easier when done ahead of time!

I had gone on some of my favorite challenge sites this morning and found one at Pals Paper Arts here that was "Anything But A Card". Is this project perfect for that or what!? Go check out what wonderful ideas people had for this challenge. Maybe you'll take up the challenge too!

Whooo's There?? Sketch

Today I stopped by Karen Giron's The Sweetest Thing blog and she had her Sweet Sunday Sketch posted. It's a cute little sketch that was fun and easy to work with. I also meandered to Pals Paper Arts site( first time there - it's awesome!) and they've got a sketch going on that's Halloween themed. So it got me thinking about fall and Halloween. And that got me thinking about some On Board chipboard pieces that I had never gotten around to playing with. Well, I figured it was about time to rectify that oversight! LOL So here is today's card for you. What do you think??? Isn't it darling? Whoo loves ya baby!

The card is a little differently sized. It's a 4.25 x 4.25 inch square. It'll still fit in a regular envie, but just gets a different look. This way the ribbon can hang off the side and not get crunched in the envie either! See, there's a reason for everything - sort of anyway!! lol

I saw another owl card on Melissa Young's blog here, and just fell in love with the owl. It's just the cutest thing on two feet! So of course I had to try one out myself. Now why haven't I used this chipboard before? Ummm, I think I forgot I bought it, but I'm glad it's off the shelf now! So get out your chipboard and play. Oh, you don't have any? Where, oh where is spring?

It's been awhile since I've been back here, what with Easter and all the services leading up to it, taxes, and then classes this week. Whew, it's been busy around here. Hope your Easter was wonderful and you enjoyed the time with family. Mine was great - family is all fine and the food was scrumptious and filling. And the taxes were all mailed yesterday. Classes started last night. So I think we're on track finally. At least for now anyway! Now comes the problem. Here it is, the middle of April. Ladies coming in last night for class all said it was sleeting outside. That's just a small step away from snow - horrors! I shudder to even speak the word! When are we going to get a bona fide spring? I really need to know! There have been too many false promises that I'm leary of believing the weatherman any more. Maybe it's time for a new one if this one can't deliver the goods. Time to revolt - no more weather channel for me until it truly is warm again! Who's with me on this? It's time to take a stand!



So since we still have awful weather, I thought it appropriate to post one more winter themed project. This 8x8 scrap page was one of the projects we made at the London Regional I was lucky enough to attend. Isn't this a cute page? And the colors are perfect for the cold winter weather.

I hope you can see on this picture how we used the 3/4" Circle Punch on the left side of the page. It was a very subtle play on the metal edge circle tag with the snowflake. And can you see where the snowflake was outlined with the VersaMarker pen? I was surprised at how much that showed up after it dried. And the little arrow on the left came from the inside of the W.
So many little touches really make up a cute page. SU! really outdid themselves with this page in my opinion. Hope this gives you some ideas for all those winter pictures you have stashed away. Guess I need to go through my own stash and find a pic for this page and actually get a page done! Naw, that would mess up my unfinished page streak!

Boy, was I ever wrong!!

Way back in the beginning of January, I said the weather had been kind of nice. Yuck! With all the snow we're getting and the single-digit temperatures, I've got to learn to keep my mouth shut. It's just waaaaay too cold outside to even consider going out, but sometimes you just have to brave the cold and get out there. After going out for groceries, it seemed to take forever just to get warm again. Today was a stay at home day because I didn't want to brave the arctic weather just to mail a package - sorry Vera and Connie. You'll have to wait a little longer. Sorry! I'm not sure if you can tell in the second picture, (which is our home) but the snow is coming down

fast and furious out there. The first picture is the house across the street. Did you notice the snow on the shrubs in front of the house? Oh yeah, that's definitely snow-covered!
Our front porch is about 12" high and the snow is getting close to even with it. If I still skied, this would be the super skiing weather we prayed for - fresh powder. Brrrrrrr. I'm getting cold again just looking at the pictures.
Ok, enough of that! The card idea I wanted to share with you today is the one I made for my downline swap. The theme was spring, and I always think of new buds on the trees and little birds singing in the trees. This card is my version

of spring. Can you almost hear the birds twittering away?
I had lots of the outer frames from my chipboard scallop frames, so I thought this would be the perfect use for them. The frames were sponged with the Cameo Coral Craft ink and set aside to dry overnight. Since I had the new Sweetest Stem Embosslit, it just begged to be used for the card. I liked how it gave the card added texture and dimension without alot of bulk or weight.
